Smart choices for a sustainable future
At BBB Cycling, we are committed to a sustainable future. We believe that cycling holds tremendous value, both for our health and for the planet. That’s why we develop products to support all types of cyclists in a sustainable manner. Our products are accessible and smart, designed to be durable with minimal impact on our environment. Below, you can read all about what we do and how we do it, helping you to make informed, smart choices just like we do.
Smart design
We make more than 1,500 different products. Each product must meet strict requirements regarding safety, durability, lifespan, and waterproofing. Every product is made from different materials, meaning there is not one custom solution for making all our products more sustainable.
Before starting a design, we determine which aspects could make a product more sustainable. We choose a design that makes a product easy to repair or gives it and extended lifespan, reducing the demand for new raw materials.

Smart material choices
Since 2018, we’ve been carbon-neutral through offsetting our emissions. We’re actively working to reduce our carbon footprint across the production chain. A significant part of these emissions comes from production, so making smart material choices can make a big difference. We strive to make products as sustainable as possible without compromising on quality.
In recent years, we’ve implemented numerous improvements, such as using recycled plastic in our fenders, bio-based plastic for our eyewear frames, recycled materials and PFAS-free coatings in our apparel, and biodegradable maintenance products. These materials, for instance, have lower CO2 emissions and/or are easier to recycle.
Smart packaging
To minimize raw material use, we scrutinize our packaging. By designing it differently, we ensure efficient material usage and transport. We replace plastic with recycled plastic whenever possible and leave it out altogether where feasible. More and more of our boxes are made from recycled cardboard with minimal printing in eco-friendly soy ink. We are also replacing polybags, sometimes necessary to protect a product during transport, with alternatives such as recycled plastic versions.
We’ve already made this transition for several categories and are working to extend it across our entire product range. Design can also make a difference; for instance, for our AirSwitch floor pump, we developed a detachable handle and base, reducing the packaging volume by 50%. A smaller package means more efficient transport and, therefore, less CO2 emissions during transport.
