Hi, I'm Marion. I'm a sponsored gravel and ultra racer from Germany. I also have a PhD in mathematics and work for one of the largest research institutions in Germany—the Fraunhofer Society—where I now manage and coordinate scientific projects (I no longer do mathematics myself). Besides cycling and science, I enjoy mountain climbing, running, and winter sports.

I discovered cycling in 2015 through the Berlin fixie scene, where I initially participated in alleycat races and fixed-gear criteriums (like Rad Race or the Red Hook Crit series). The short, technical races and the associated alternative racing scene were exactly my thing for a long time, until my fixed-crit partner asked me at the end of 2017 if I wanted to participate in the Transcontinental Race (TCRNo6) as a duo with her. I immediately agreed. That was my entry into ultra-distance cycling. In 2020, I also began riding off-road ultra-distances.

Long, short, road, off-road, racing or adventure - I just love everything that challenges me on the bike.

What are your greatest achievements on the bike?

Badlands 2021 (1st solo woman)

The Traka 2022, 360 km (1st woman)

Transbalkan Race 2023 (1st woman pair, 2nd pair overall)

What is your biggest goal this year?

My biggest goal for this year is to dominate the pair category at Lakes'n Knödel with my dream team partner Sofie. Additionally, I aimed to participate in the Atlas Mountain Race in February, which I have already achieved.

What is your favorite place or route to ride?

I absolutely love cycling in the area where I mainly stay—south of Munich. My favorite route (Valepp) is 90 km and takes me through picturesque landscapes, including a peaceful ride along Lake Tegernsee and challenging climbs on practically car-free roads that lead to Spitzingsattel. It’s a perfect mix of scenery and cycling challenges.

Come by, and I’d be happy to show it to you!

Who is your favorite cycling buddy?

Choosing just one favorite cycling buddy is tough! Recently, however, I had an amazing time riding with Luisa on our Gran Guanche Bikepacking adventure over Christmas. Also, Sofie and I make an unbeatable duo when we compete together as a pair in ultra-cycling races, like the Transbalkan Race last summer. I can hardly wait to head out again with both of them this year!

What is your favorite BBB Cycling product, and why?

At the moment, I am really impressed with the DoubleShot Mini Pump. Despite its compact size, it delivers exceptional pumping power, making it a reliable companion for every ride.
