The Cycling Development Foundation Inc (CDF) was founded in 2016 and is a not-for-profit incorporated Association created to provide a proven pathway for aspiring young people who wish to engage in cycling as means of developing life skills and even a professional athlete status.

This is facilitated via two pillars comprising: the Community Program; and the Cycling Program. These two pillars provide Environmental, Social and Governance frameworks for corporations via robust Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) services and Reconciliation Action Plans (RAP).

Our programs are centered on developing the whole person using applied research, best-in-class coaching, nutrition and strength training, as well as teaching the importance of developing grit, resilience and goal setting, lifelong skills that will stay with our athletes and First Nation’s kids for life.

What are the biggest successes of Cycling Development Foundation?

- Won Australian Junior Criterium Championship 2023
- Won Oceania Road Racing Championships Under 23 Men 2022
- Won Oceania Time Trial Championships Under 23 Women 2024
- 3rd Men’s Australian National Road Series team ranking 2024
- 3rd Women’s Australian National Road Series team ranking 2024

We also run the longest-operating cycling development program in rural Australia, the Laverton Cycling Project: An Indigenous, Youth and Community cycling program in remote Western Australia.

What are the three biggest races/ events in 2025?

- The Pro-velo Super League Series, January - March (Australia)
- European Racing Campaign, July (Belgium, Holland)
- Asia Racing period, August - December (South East Asia)

What is the team looking forward to the most?

Athlete development is our passion and focus. To this end, the team may race 40 events per year, with leaving 320 days per year to focus on the development of the athlete. We pride ourselves on our ability to work with aspiring professional cyclists, day in and day out, to develop their physical capacity, learned resilience, and sense of self through an applied program that coaches, mentors and develops individuals using evidence-based practice.

What is your biggest goal for the next few years?

To provide more financial assistance to our athletes through long-term sustainable partnerships with like-minded entities. The sport is an expensive one, and we want to remove this hurdle for long term athlete-participation. Retaining our current 17-18 year old athletes for 3-5 years in our program is a major focus for our team and providing an opportunity for racing experience for our more senior riders.

What is your favourite BBB Cycling product, and why?

The Maestro helmet and Chester MLC Blue sunglasses. The two products interact well with each other whilst cycling, with the glasses easily clipped into the helmet when not needed for safe transit when racing. They look great too and are super comfortable.
